"Childhood should be a journey not a race."
I can’t believe that the school year is over already! What a wonderful year we’ve had together!
We have learned all kinds of new things! Please keep practicing the skills we have learned with your child this summer. I have sent home a summer packet full of reinforcement pages, activities to do together, etc. to better prepare your child for first grade.
Please keep reading with your child and have him/her sound out words and read to you too! Have your child keep writing this summer as well. He/she could keep a journal and write each week about something they did during the week. Have them draw a picture first, then write a sentence telling about it. Encourage them to use inventive spelling to write the words. (Write the letters that they can hear when saying the word. Have them stretch out the word to hear all the sounds. They know how!) Ex: trtl for turtle; prsnt for present.
Always encourage and praise your child for the slightest accomplishment. Building their self-esteem and confidence is crucial to becoming successful in school. Thank you for taking the time to work with your child this summer and throughout the school year!

Thank You! I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for the support and positive encouragement you so generously gave to me throughout the year! It was a pleasure working with parents who were involved with their child’s education. As a teacher, it is so nice to know that the children you teach have parents who are so caring and loving. I know it was your input that helped the children begin to develop the organizational skills and sense of responsibility needed at this age. We had a wonderful year and you had a lot to do with that. So once again, I would like to say thank you.
A special thank you goes out to our wonderful room moms who came to parties, helped with special activities, and provided food, snacks, drinks, treats, etc. for our class. Thank you! We couldn’t have done it without you!
It was a pleasure teaching your children. Each one will always have a special place in my heart. Your children are very special and I will cherish the memories of this year and the fun we had together.
Keep up the good work and have a very safe and enjoyable summer!
Sincerely, Mrs. Bhasin & Mrs. Costino
GO PHILLIES!
