Mrs. Clayton’s June/Summer Update

We are quickly approaching the end of the school year.  This is a very busy time of year filled with new experiences.  It is also a good time to practice and become confident in previously learned skills.

Here are some of the new skills that we are working on, as well as some previously learned skills that we are reviewing:

Math

-         adding and subtracting

-         counting up to 100

-         recognizing numbers up to 100

Reading

-         blending short vowel words

-         reading leveled books

-         listening for main ideas, details, and character traits in stories

Writing

-         using invented spelling and sight words to write about a topic

-         using best handwriting and correct spacing when writing

-         writing a sentence that begins with a capital letter and ends with the correct ending mark

As you can see, we still have a lot of learning to do!  Please have your child remember to bring his/her book bag and folder to school daily.

Thank You,

Mrs. Clayton
