New Jersey
State Library: Information for Today, Knowledge for a
Lifetime
TRENTON,
N.J. –
It is a great time to get
acquainted with the New Jersey State Library’s vast
resources and custom services available to all state
employees.
Why
the State Library web site is the best place to find
information on the Internet
Using a search
engine like Google when you have time to browse the Internet
is fine, but if you need specific information fast, or you
need to be sure the information you find is accurate,
up-to-date, complete and authoritative, then go to the State
Library web site at
www.njstatelib.org/cyberdesk and select
“Electronic Resources.” Here, grouped by subject and title,
are nearly 200 databases of journals and magazines with
articles written by experts in their fields. Bookmark it!
Reference Librarians: Awesome Helpers!
Need to find
data or other information for your boss or a report? Contact
a reference librarian at the State Library and get immediate
friendly, confidential help. They will help you obtain
information, full-text articles, data or documents. If you
like to search for information yourself, they’ll direct you
to the best online resources and share tips on how to
improve your search results. They also prepare research
guides on business, education, health, law and social
sciences to help you get a jump start on your research. For
more information, contact Reference Services at
refdesk@njstatelib.org or 609-292-6220.
Listen to a book in your car
With a State
Library borrower’s card, you can borrow audio books from the
library or download audio books to your MP3 player. Go to
http://www.njstatelib.org/Collections_and_Services/audio_books.php
(or go to
www.njstatelib.org/cyberdesk and click on “How Do I”
then “Audio Books.”)
Delivery to your office
View all
services for state employees at our web site
www.njstatelib.org/cyberdesk. Look under “Services” and
click on "To State Government." While there, it is easy to
register for a library card. Complete the Borrower's
Registration form and your card will be mailed to you. Books
may be picked up and returned to the library at
185 W.
State St. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 5:00.
If you cannot pick up books at the library, we will send
them to your office and you can return them to us through
interoffice mail.
Testing for Advancement?
The State
Library keeps a current collection of test books for Civil
Service jobs, available for you to borrow. We have multiple
copies, but request early.
