Welcome to Mrs. Pickering’s Class
Well, another school year coming to an end! Our last day of school is June 22. I can not believe how the time has flown. I hope you are looking forward to summer and the change in routine it brings. Please make sure to take time to recharge over the summer but realize there are many opportunities for reinforcing skills needed for success in the classroom. There are many activities that you can do with your children. Your students can help with shopping and preparing food. These activities can allow students to practice skills in math, reading and writing as they read recipes, write lists and then measure and prepare the food. Walks allow time to talk to your children and notice the things that surround you as you walk. The discussion may later help them during science or social studies classes or allow them to remember details to add spice to their writing. Trips to the air-conditioned library allow you and the children time to cool off and pick up a new book or magazine. Libraries also allow access to computers and the students feel they are having fun accessing various web sites and they don’t realize that it’s educational too. As always the Clementon Elementary School website has many activities to access for the benefit of your student. Students can also keep a diary, journal or write letters. This is a great way to keep up handwriting and writing skills. There are so many ways to enjoy your summer. I hope you have a great one! We’ll see you on Sept. 7th! Please check the website for information on needed supplies for next year. |
